The Day Before The Wedding
The day before the wedding, the couple decided to do a sunrise ‘First Look.’
What is a First Look?
A First Look is when a couple decides to find a special moment to see each other privately in their wedding clothes for the first time, before their ceremony and before seeing all their guests. This gives couples the chance to have an intimate moment away from their guests and take it all in, just between the two of them. You can focus on each other and your love and all the excitement that is about to unfold that day.
Most couples have their First Look about 1 hour before the ceremony on the wedding day. However, there’s really no rules.
This couple wanted to do their First Look and special couples portraits the day before the wedding so that they could fully enjoy the whole wedding day with their loved ones and not worry about taking time away to get portraits. They didn’t have to worry about rushing to get incredible portraits and they weren’t confined to only 1 location.
I scouted out this location for us ahead of time so the couple didn’t have to worry about picking the perfect spot. We drove up into the mountains and arrived before sunrise at the perfect timing. Since the First Look was a separate day from the wedding, we weren’t tied down to the wedding venue. We could go anywhere we wanted.
Couples Portraits
Wedding Day – Getting Ready
The couple got ready for their wedding day in separate homes. Even though they did a First Look the previous day, they still wanted the excitement on the wedding day of getting ready separately.
The Ceremony
The couple got married at a local park. There was a beautiful amphitheatre, which served as the perfect setting for a wedding ceremony. They exchanged custom vows that they wrote themselves. Even as their photographer, it was hard not to tear up watching them emotionally exchange vows.
After The Ceremony
After the ceremony we took wedding party photos at the park. Then we proceeded to the reception venue where we took family photos and other group photos. At the reception, the couple had their first dance, speeches, cut the cake, and of course danced with all their guests.
