The gardens are beautiful year round and are very romantic to walk around. The pond, swans, bridge, and flowing willow trees all make for beautiful engagement session photos.
You also get some city skyline when walking through the garden, which makes for a nice background for photos as well.
It’s never too crowded here. The gardens are huge and leave plenty of space for everyone. Sometimes it can get a bit crowded taking photos on the bridge, but timing is key. Parking details for an engagement session in Boston Public Garden
I would recommend first looking for street parking. There are lot of metered parking spots along the perimeter of the park and garden.
Next, I would look on either Best Parking app or Spot Hero app to score a good price on a parking garage rate.
Bathroom details
There is no public bathroom directly inside the gardens. If you want to change outfits, I would recommend 2 options. You and your photographer can organize to bring a towel or sheet to change in public. We do this all the time with photoshoots. Otherwise, you can use the bathroom inside the lobby of a hotel. There is one in particular Chiha Studios likes to use with their clients during photoshoots.
Other ideas for your engagement session
This couple decided to take advantage of mutliple locations nearby to the gardens for their engagement session photos. We spent the majority of our time in the gardens, and then we walked to a nearby Equinox gym. The couple has a fond memory of meeting at the gym while playing on a basketball team together. So we went over to the gym and took some photos playing basketball. Then, we went up to the rooftop at the Equinox in Boston and took some photos on the rooftop overlooking the Boston skyline. This was a great ending to their engagement session.
