Always ask to see a FULL wedding gallery from a real and recent wedding before hiring your wedding photographer. Avoid the terrible mistake of picking a photographer that ‘looks great’ on their website but in reality cannot deliver up to standard.
Why is it important to ask a photographer to see a FULL wedding gallery before hiring them?
- You may only be seeing ‘the best 15 shots’ from a wedding
- If a photographer delivers 500 photos to a client, but only 15 are great…. this is not a good sign
- How well does the photographer capture all the different moments of a wedding day
- How much time and attention are they giving to family portraits
- How well does the photographer handle different lighting situations
- You want a full and accurate representation of what your own wedding gallery will look like, not just the best 15 shots
How many photos should I expect in a wedding gallery?
For an 8 hour wedding, around 400 photos is PLENTY of photos.
This number will change depending on which photographer you talk to. There is no right answer. I will tell you what I believe is the best route, but please feel free to make your own opinions.
The number of photos you receive will directly be impacted by how many hours of photography you received.
I’ve been photographing weddings since 2014 and every single couple has always said the same thing – There’s 400 photos in this gallery? It seems like SO much more – there’s no way I would need more than this.
Some photographers will deliver close to 1,000 photos. If you were to receive a gallery with this many photos, you would be so overwhelmed with what to even do with them, how to browse through them, or the daunting idea of even sharing them with others.
